Apple Intelligence will be a significant upgrade for iPhone, Mac, and iPad users when iOS 18, macOS Sequoia, and iPadOS 18 launch this fall. While these features will debut in beta form, several important capabilities will become available over time.
Initially, Apple Intelligence will be limited to devices that use U.S. English as their default language, restricting access for many international users. This cautious rollout strategy aims to ensure stability and gather feedback from a smaller user base before a broader release.
Delayed Features
Siri’s Enhanced App Actions:
Siri is slated for a major upgrade with deeper integration into app functionalities. This enhancement will allow Siri to perform nearly any action you could manually execute within an app. However, this powerful feature will require further development and is expected to be available sometime in 2025.
Siri’s On-Screen Awareness:
Another anticipated improvement for Siri is its ability to understand and act on contextual information displayed on your screen. For example, you could ask Siri to save an address from a message directly to a contact. This feature will also not be ready at launch and will roll out later next year.
Apple Mail Upgrades:
The Mail app will eventually include new features powered by Apple Intelligence, such as automatic message categorization and message summaries. Categorization will sort emails into Primary, Transactions, Promotions, and Updates. At the same time, message summaries will highlight key information from emails grouped by sender. These features will be included in updates following the initial launch, likely in iOS 18.1 or 18.2.
While these enhancements promise to make Apple devices more intuitive and powerful, users must wait until these features are fully developed and integrated. The initial rollout this fall will still offer a glimpse into Apple Intelligence's future capabilities, but the full experience will unfold gradually over the next year.
