iOS 18 Lets You Open Any App from the Lock Screen

With the release of iOS 18, iPhone users will enjoy a host of new features. Among the most anticipated updates is the ability to open any app directly from the Lock Screen without unlocking the phone. This new functionality is part of Apple's broader effort to enhance user customization and convenience.

One of the key updates is the ability to lock individual apps, requiring Face ID or a passcode to access them. Users can also hide apps entirely from the home screen, offering greater privacy. Customization options are expanded, allowing users to rearrange app icons and select colour themes for their home screen.

Messaging sees significant improvements with introducing the "Send Later" feature, allowing users to schedule messages. Additionally, iOS 18 supports Rich Communication Services (RCS) messaging, aligning with industry standards for enhanced text messaging.

The standout feature, however, is the ability to open any app from the Lock Screen. Users can now customize the Lock Screen shortcuts, which previously only included the flashlight and camera. To set this up, users can long press the Lock Screen, tap the blue "Customize" button, select the Lock Screen option, and then replace the existing shortcuts with any app they choose.

The iOS 18 Public Beta is available for those eager to try these features before the official release in September. To install it, go to Settings > General > Software Update, tap on Beta Updates, select iOS 18 Public Beta, and follow the instructions.
