Walmart Unveils Groundbreaking GenAI Search Technology at CES 2024

January 10, 2024 - Walmart's latest AI-powered tools, revealed at the CES 2024, are setting a new standard in the retail industry, showcasing the revolutionary potential of Generative AI technology in enhancing customer experience.

Redefining Product Searches

Walmart's innovative feature, currently available for iOS users and soon to be extended to its website and Android app, allows customers to search using context-rich terms like "a football watch party" or "planning a unicorn-themed party." This AI-driven approach provides a curated list of relevant products, streamlining the shopping experience by eliminating the need to search for each item individually.

Automating Shopping with AI

Further elevating convenience, Walmart is developing "Walmart InHome Replenishment," a tool for subscription-based InHome delivery service users. It promises to rapidly populate online shopping carts with frequently ordered items, leveraging AI to predict customer needs.

AI-Powered Shopping Experience

The AI and computer vision-enabled service piloted in 10 Sam's Club stores is a remarkable addition. This technology, involving a combination of cameras and AI processing, captures images of carts at the exit to verify purchases, thereby removing the need for manual receipt checks. Following positive customer feedback, Walmart plans to expand this technology to nearly 600 clubs by year-end.
